CAF announced Thursday, March 30 the dates of the final phase of CAN-2024. Côte d'Ivoire will host the competition between January 13 and February 11, 2024. The opening match and final will take place at the Alassane Ouattara stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.

This will be the second time, after 1984, that the homeland of the "Elephants" will host this sporting event. At the time, it was Cameroon who emerged victorious from the competition.

CAF expects "record stadium attendance" for the 34th edition of the premier competition of African football. It also anticipates "unprecedented interest (...) from global media rights licensees," the statement said.

Seven countries already qualified

The competition will pit the 24 best teams on the continent against each other. In addition to Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso and Senegal, the reigning African champions, qualified on the 4th day of the qualifiers.

Two more qualifying rounds will take place in June and September. The draw for the groups will take place shortly after the last round of matches, on a date that has not yet been determined.
