Tomas Axnér took over as head coach in 2020 and his original contract spanned the 2024 Olympics. Now it is clear that he will continue for at least two more years.

"I'm a big believer in the process we've started with a common thread down in our national league and our youth national teams. For me, it makes a lot of sense to be and perform in the present but also to look to the future," he says in the press release.

This means that four more championships will be played during Axnér's contract period, with this year's World Cup, Olympics 2024, Euro 2024 and World Cup 2025.

"The goal is of course that we will qualify for all these championships, but also that we will take further steps with the goal of establishing Swedish women's handball at the top of the world. It feels very inspiring to have the opportunity to continue the work we have done over the past three years, says Axnér.
