Spanish media reports have revealed the name of the player who was hoping that former Spain coach Luis Enrique would not be called up to the squad that participated in the World Cup in Qatar late last year.

During a chat on social media, the coach admitted the sacked after La Roja was knocked out of the final price of the Qatari World Cup over one of his mistakes during his tenure as coach of La Roja.

The former Barcelona coach explained that "I will make an amendment, I will not call up a single player to the national team and now I can say that about the name, although I will not reveal who I will call up or rule out. There was one player who didn't live up to expectations."

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the player Enrique was talking about is Barcelona's Ansu Fati.

Announcing the squad for which he travelled to Qatar last November, Enrique noted that a player and his coaching staff had discussed at length whether he was a good fit or not.

Although Fati travelled on a trip to Qatar, he failed to rise to the occasion, making just two appearances for Spain.

It was during Spain's defeats to Japan and Morocco, with the Atlas Lions' final encounter at the World Cup in Qatar and Enrique's last appearance as coach.

The news that Fati was the player Enrique alluded to in his comments comes as the striker's father makes headlines for criticizing the minutes Barça give his son.

Ansu Fati's father, Burri, was annoyed by his son's situation at Barca, believing he deserved more minutes, and that he could not be asked to score a goal once he entered the pitch.

Fati is a Spain international and a graduate of La Masia academy and does not play.

Puri Fati, who met on Monday with Jordi Cruyff and Matteo Alemany (Barca officials), revealed that he did not go to the "Camp Nou" to watch the Clásico in LaLiga a week ago.

He asked – in a press interview – why Fati was "before the injury, starting in a squad that included Messi, Suarez, Griezmann and Dembele. That's your no.10 and one of the best players in the team, can you give him a few minutes at the end of the game".

"If it were up to me, I would have asked my son to leave Barca, but he wants to stay in the team. Jorge Mendes (the player's agent) received tempting and big offers to sign Ansu, but Barcelona did not listen to them and refused to sell the player."

On the possibility of a move to Real Madrid, Borré confirmed that "Ansu will not accept it, I cannot put him where he does not want, and I will never speak ill of Madrid, you do not know what the future holds for you."
