Sara Doshi, who won the gold medal in women's wrestling at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, has announced that she will retire from active wrestling.

Doshi is a 28-year-old from Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture.

His greatest strength is his strong tackle with lunging power, which he honed under the guidance of his father, Saori Yoshida, who won three consecutive Olympic Games, since he was in elementary school.

After going on to Shigakkan University, a powerhouse in Aichi Prefecture like Mr. Yoshida, he participated in the 3 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and won the gold medal.

After that, he suffered injuries such as a dislocated shoulder and returned after shoulder surgery in 2016, but at the 2018 Tokyo Olympics, where he said "I will give my all in my wrestling life," he lost in the third-place match and did not win a medal.

After the Tokyo Olympics, he did not participate in any official matches, and Doshi announced on Twitter that he would retire from active football and leave his club at the end of this month.

In it, Doshi explained the reason why he decided to retire, saying, "After the Tokyo Olympics, I wanted to aim for that big stage again, but as I went through my days, I began to feel that my physical condition and the accumulation of small injuries made me unable to wrestle as drastically as before, and I came to this decision."

On top of that, he said, "I can proudly say that I have looked back on my wrestling career so far and made it through!" and revealed that his active life was fulfilling, "I have been able to make it this far because of the support and support of many people. I am filled with gratitude."

From next month, he will be working at the local Matsusaka City Hall in Mie Prefecture, concluding, "I will do my best at a new stage by making use of what I have cultivated so far."
