Tight spot

In recent years, the Angevin club, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, is going through a bad time. Not only this season, the club is sinking into the depths of the Ligue 1 ranking, but its former president himself, Saïd Chabane, has been challenged judicially since February 2020. He was indicted for aggravated sexual assault.

Despite his denials, six young women who were his employees at the time of the alleged facts, including four at the SCO, have filed a complaint against him and a trial is looming. Following this crisis, Saïd Chabane had dismissed several of his collaborators and entrusted responsibilities to people with sometimes controversial skills.

At the beginning of March, the Ultras of the Kop of the Butte 1992 had estimated in a statement that the outgoing president "has locked himself in his role of authoritarian president, firing staff who disagree with his methods and placing characters as unbearable as incompetent in key positions, provided they are blindly loyal to him".
