Luleå surprised many and stood for a strong finish to an otherwise heavy season when the team pressured Växjö for seven games. It was barely that the Norrbottens made it to the playoffs but still made it into the top ten.
They were also counted out during the quarterfinal series against Växjö when it was 3-1 in matches for the Småland team. In the end, it was still a game seven and Luleå was so close to taking it all to extra time.
Växjö won 2-1 and is ready for the Swedish Championship semifinals.
"We're having a hugely strong finish to the season even though there have been headwinds really all the time. We're doing well, but it's hellishly sour to lose. You are very bitter and disappointed," Luleå's team captain Erik Gustafsson told SVT Sport after the last game of the season.
