Sebastian Cabander has been the new chairman of the club since just a few weeks back.

"We have a new stated sporting strategy since last autumn, to invest in young talent. But it's a balance: how many young local players we can get into the first team while protecting our damallsvenska contract," he says.

In the long-term strategy the club developed at the beginning of 2022, the goal is for Kif Örebro to reach the top three in the national talent development certification in 2025.

Last year, the club finished sixth on that list.

"I think we have a responsibility to bring in young talented players and raise them so that they can make a living from their sport in the future. It's a good idea and maybe more clubs need to think about this," says Sebastian Cabander.

High percentage of foreign players

Among the players who signed a contract with the first team, 15-year-old goalkeeper Saga Andersson stands out. There are also sisters Emilia and Elsa Pelgander.

Another example is 19-year-old Anna Sandberg, now in Häcken, who is on SVT's expert Hanna Marklund's list of greatest talents.

At the same time, Kif Örebro was one of the teams with the highest proportion of foreign players last season. Something that may seem contradictory and of which Sebastian Cabander is acutely aware.

"We have received some comments about it and I understand that there may be such reactions. I think you have to understand that we have just taken these decisions. You have to accept that it takes time to change, it's not something that changes right away.
