Argentina played their first match after the World Cup, winning 2–0 in a friendly against Panama at home in Buenos Aires. Then both players and audiences took the opportunity to once again celebrate the World Cup gold in real style.

Among other things, Lautaro Martínez led the players and fans in joint singing, some players recreated Emiliano Martínez's celebration with a World Cup dent and rivals Brazil and World Cup final opponent France were mocked with a minute's silence.

Lionel Messi was one of several players and leaders who were teary-eyed by the crowd's reception. Around 83,000 supporters were on hand to pay tribute to their World Cup heroes.

"Always dreamed of this"

Then in the game, Messi scored his 800th career goal when he set up a free kick in the 89th minute to make it 2–0. He became the second player to reach the milestone after Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I've always dreamed of this moment, of celebrating with you," Messi says, according to Diario Olé.
