Strange scenes unfolded in the meeting between Independiente and Colón in the Argentine Top League. Towards the end of the match, defender Paolo Goltz picked up the ball with his hands in the penalty area.

He didn't think the game was underway – he was going to hit a kick-in – but shortly before, the goalkeeper had started the game by passing him the ball.

The VAR review that followed caused the opposing team (Independiente) to receive a penalty on which they scored.

- I really don't understand anything. The referee hadn't blown the game open," Goltz said afterward.

"It's one of the strangest situations in Argentine football in a long time," writes major Argentine media outlet TyC Sports.

The match ended 2–2.
