Fossesholm is not in the squad for the World Cup final in Lahti on Friday to Sunday. The next race for Fosseholm, who has turned 21, could be the Norwegian championships in Tolga on March 29-30, including the three-mile.

After the success two years ago, it was a difficult last year and Fossesholm closed down the season after the Olympics in Beijing and she had only two places in the top ten in the World Cup.

This season, there was only one top 10 finish, which was not enough to be selected for the World Championships in Planica, where the Norwegian women did better than expected and took home the women's relay, among other things.

Fossesholm chose to drop out of the Scandinavian Cup in Madona in early March.

The transition to becoming a senior can be tough

"She felt worn out after a previous race weekend and was not fit to compete," national team coach Sjur Ole Svarstad told Norwegian VG.

Fossesholm has announced via the Norwegian Ski Federation that she will not do any interviews until the season is over.

Svarstad says the transition from junior to senior can be tough.

"It's about letting it take the time it takes, building stone by stone and not getting too eager. We have to find the right balance. We haven't heard the last from her," Svarstad said.

On the men's side, Sjur Röthe and Hans Christer Holund stay at home after contracting covid-19 after the World Cup.
