Victory against Japan and Norway was followed up by victory against the United States for Team Hasselborg during the Curling World Cup. But the match was even all the way into the final round.

"High precision from both teams, but Sweden did better than the USA throughout the match," says expert Eva Lund.

"Unbelievably good match"

Question marks about the development of the match were raised for the Swedish side when the U.S. managed to take a three-pointer in the third round.

But Team Hasselborg responded with a three-pointer and regained the lead and led 5-3 after four rounds.

"An incredibly good match, well played from both teams. These are the matches you go out and enjoy themselves, and they are extra nice to win," says Sofia Mabergs after the match.

Four group stage matches remain for Sweden

Despite Sweden's last stone in the seventh round, the U.S. managed to steal two points and the standings for the eighth round were completely equal.

But Sweden came to show their quality and outmaneuvered the Americans in the final rounds. The match ended 9-6.

"It feels great, we wanted to go out and pressure the U.S. and once we got it right, we succeeded in that," Mabergs says.

There are four group stage matches remaining for Sweden who play their next game against Scotland tomorrow at 09:00. And despite the weak start to the world championship, there is still a chance of a direct place to the semi-finals.
