On its website, Degerfors writes:

"On Wednesday morning, Degerfors IF was reached by the news that the Left Party and the Moderates in Degerfors municipality had agreed to try to sell Stora Valla. The announcement came as a shock to the association's board and staff, who were not notified of the plans or participated in any kind of dialogue regarding a sale."

It also states:

"The timing of Degerfors municipality's announcement is ill-chosen as it risks interfering with the procurement of new stands. The procurement must be completed before the summer for it to be built and in place by the 2024 season".

Not made contact with the municipality

When TT reaches club manager Weman, he says that there is an extraordinary board meeting waiting this evening.

"We have tried to get in touch with the municipality without success, I have not succeeded anyway. It has been common knowledge that the municipality is in a strained financial situation, but that this is coming now, a week and a half before the premiere and in this way, we were not prepared for that.

TT: Stora Valla is a historic arena, can the name Stora Valla disappear?

"It's too early to say anything about it, but it's important that we keep the stadium name.

Weman says that the club expects to play its matches at Stora Valla in 2023, but that there are concerns about 2024.

Degerfors will visit Hammarby in the all-Swedish premiere on April 2.
