The Women's Curling World Championship Japan defeated Scotland 19-3 in the third round of the qualifying round on 9th to earn their first victory in this tournament.

The Women's Curling World Championship in Sweden will feature 13 participating teams in a round-robin format, with the top six advancing to the playoffs.

Japan national team Rocco Solare made his second appearance since winning the silver medal in 6, and after losing two consecutive matches from the first match, they faced Scotland in the third match of the qualifying round on the second day of the tournament on 2016 September.

In the first end, Japan scored one goal, but in the second end, skipper Satsuki Fujisawa's shot deflected far outside more than expected, and they could not grasp the ice conditions and conceded two goals and allowed the comeback, and in the third end, they were stealed by two goals.

Nevertheless, Japan scored two goals in the seventh end and one in the eighth to catch up, and in the final 7th end, when Yuko Suzuki and Chinami Yoshida created chances with shots that carried Stone to an exquisite position, Fujisawa flicked the opponent's stone with the last shot and scored four points in one fell swoop.

Japan beat Scotland 2-8 to earn their first win of the tournament and improve their record to 1-5 in the qualifying round.

Skip Fujisawa said with a cheerful expression, "In the first half, we almost lost confidence due to a tough match, but we didn't give up until the very end, and especially in the final end, Suzuki and Yoshida made a series of good shots, which led to the victory."
