Hammarby took the lead in the match on a corner struck by Jonna Andersson. After a header, the ball landed with Sara Kanutte Fornes who also used her skull to place the ball into the goal. The goal was the only one in the first half.

But with barely an hour played, Piteå found his way to an equalizer. This in a somewhat strange situation where Anam Imo got the ball centrally, while Hammarby's goalkeeper Anna Tamminen went out. Imo finished before colliding with the goalkeeper, and the ball rolled into the open goal.

The equaliser meant it was an exciting final half-hour of the match, with both teams searching for a winning goal. But that was not the case, and the match continued in extra time. Just over four minutes into extra time, it was once again Hammarby who had the lead in the game.

A free-kick at the short line was perfectly struck for Simone Boye to nod the ball into goal.

Hammarby was then able to expand through both Matilda Vinberg and Madelen Janogy. The latter nodded in the last goal of the match on a corner.

The victory means that Hammarby will be pitted against Häcken in the cup final.
