Ida Dahl ended up in a cluster in the lead early on – and there she stayed throughout the race.

She tried to jerk early, but the cluster caught up.

With about 20 kilometres to go of the Birkebeinerrennet, the 27-year-old tried to jerk again.
This time it went much better and the Swede managed to keep the cluster behind him.
But Norwegian Astrid Öyre Slind did not give up and fought with Dahl in the lead. They took turns holding the lead.

However, Öyre Slind really slipped away when there were 10 kilometers left of the race. And she didn't let go of the lead.

It was a second place for Ida Dahl in Birken.

Less successful for the men

It was less successful for the Swedes on the men's side where the Norwegian Andreas Nygård won.

The big favorite Emil Persson was not at all involved in fighting for the podiums, it was instead a fourteenth place. Max Novak was the best Swede on the men's side in eighth place.

Emil Persson has already secured the overall victory in Ski Classics and Birken has been dominated by Norwegian skiers all these years. Only four Swedes have won since the race began in the early 1930s.
