A Hungarian goalkeeper has come under fire in the media and social media for behaving with a child ahead of his MTK team's match against rivals Djosgiuri in the domestic league.

MTK wanted to give one of its child players a chance to celebrate his birthday on the pitch and take the kick-off.

The child took the ball towards the goal of the Diosgiuri team, and shot the ball towards goalkeeper Enoch Varga, who grabbed the ball and prevented him from scoring his net, before repeating it for the second time, as he grabbed it and shot it towards the middle of the field.

The goalkeeper did not like the fans who were present at the stadium, and whistles booed against him, as the child left the pitch sad.

The video documenting the scene has received nearly 10 million views on Twitter, with hundreds commenting sharply criticizing the goalkeeper for his behaviour with the child and his refusal to allow him to score in his own goal.

MTK players were quick to make up for what happened, taking a celebratory photo with him after winning the match.

Later, the goalkeeper apologized for what happened, stressing that he was not aware of the club's initiative to celebrate the child, and promised to give him a precious gift.

Curiously, Sergei Kuznetsov, coach of the Diosgior team, defended his player, saying that his behavior was normal and on his instructions. "The rival club should have informed us in advance of the initiative and, since that did not happen, I asked the goalkeeper not to allow the child to score in his net."
