Olympic gold, Olympic bronze, two European Championship golds, three European Championship silvers and two World Championship silvers.

The only major championship medal missing from Team Hasselborg's prize cabinet is a World Cup gold.

Now they hope that the long-awaited medal will come on home soil when the World Championships in Sandviken begin on Saturday. SVT Sport broadcasts all of Sweden's matches plus the final game.

" The European Championship gold on home soil in Helsingborg 2019 was one of the highlights of our careers, so we really hope for something similar now. That would be cool," says the team's skipper Anna Hasselborg.

Regular core reassembled

The European Championships in Östersund in November ended with disappointment when the championship ended for Sweden already in the group stage.

This time, Sara McManus is back after giving birth in January, and the team that has tested seven different lineups this season now has its regular four back: Hasselborg, McManus, Agnes Knochenhauer and Sofia Mabergs, with Johanna Helldin as reserve.

"I think I come in with a lot of energy. Right now, we're enjoying being the four of us at the core again. We're damn good when we're good and have a lot of routine, at the same time it's important to step in with great humility in the face of this with two players who are pregnant and me as a relatively new kid," McManus said.

"Sounds sick to say..."

The evaluation of the European Championship failure last fall can be summed up with the fact that the team was not prepared enough.

"It sounds sick to say when preparation is the only thing we athletes are doing, but sometimes you have to admit that the plan didn't turn out right and then you have to be honest and say it. We hadn't nailed a lineup that worked out quite a hundred and we didn't manage to fill Sara's void. Now she's back and we feel more stable and prepared as fifth," Hasselborg said.

Sweden will start the World Cup against New Zealand at 14.00 on Saturday and then face the world number ones in Team Kerri Einarson later that evening. Here you have a solid guide with all SVT's broadcast times.
