Malmö got off to a really festive start in the quarter-finals against Djurgården at Tele 2 Arena when Anders Christiansen sent in 1-0 from close range already in the tenth minute.

A quarter of an hour later, they were rewarded with a penalty as well - which Christiansen shot high over.

A 2-0 result at half-time would not have been entirely unfair considering how the game looked purely in the first half but in the second Djurgården pulled themselves up and moved the positions forward.

Joel Asoro came close to equalizing in the 69th minute after he broke free on the edge and came alone with Johan Dahlin, but the finish was nothing further.

In the 86th minute, the equalizer finally came.

Piotr Johansson hit the post that Elias Andersson pushed in to the great joy of the home crowd.

Oliver Berg then had a super situation to decide in extra time when he got the ball completely free in front of Dahlin in the MFF goal, but the finish was nothing further, while the MFF goalkeeper was responsible for a good reflex save.

Once in extra time, it was Djurgården who continued to lead the game - but it was Malmö who scored the first goal after Anders Christiansen got a dream position in the penalty area with five minutes left to play.

However, Djurgården did not give up and in the 120th minute Hampus Finndell equalized with a tricky shot that set Dahlin up.

The match went to penalties and once there it was the players in Djurgården who had the best nerves.

The loss means that there will be no European games for Malmö this season.
