Naonobu Fujii, a former Japanese national volleyball player who also participated in the Tokyo Olympics and announced that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year, passed away.

Originally from Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, Fujii is a setter belonging to Toray in the first division of the V League, and represented Japan at the Tokyo Olympics two years ago.



In February last year, when he was the captain of his team, he revealed on SNS that he was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer as a result of feeling unwell in his eyes and being hospitalized.



After that, he continued treatment, but his team announced on the 12th that he passed away on the 10th of this month.
