Eduard Latypov continues to amaze fans.

After a not very successful performance in the first part of the Russian Championship in Izhevsk, where the biathlete failed to climb the podium, the athlete churns out gold medals at the final stage of the Commonwealth Cup in Tyumen.

The representative of Bashkortostan, after winning the sprint, confidently won the pursuit race, having won the fifth award of the highest standard at the tournament in a row.

The bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics went to the distance first with a comfortable lead of 30 seconds from Daniil Serokhvostov, the rest of the rivals were almost a minute behind.

So the main competitor for Latypov was precisely the native of Barnaul.

Already on the first prone, Eduard increased his advantage: the biathlete did not make a single mistake, while the pursuer made a mistake.

As a result, the leader of the race went to the second round 55 seconds earlier than Daniil, who went to the penalty loop.

At the same time, there was a stubborn struggle for the third place between a large group of athletes, to which, thanks to accuracy, Pyotr Pashchenko, who started only 11th, was slowly moving up.

On the three remaining firing lines, Latypov was not perfect: on each he did not close a target, but this turned out to be enough to win, since Serokhvostov missed in sync with him.

As Daniil explained after the finish, he tried to vary the rate of fire in order to try to catch up with the leader of the race.

And that is what led to this result.

“Penalty circles shook me today.

Of course, it could have worked better.

Rushed four times.

This was due to the desire to close the gap.

It seems that everything is under control, but in fact, when such a rush begins between shots, he is lost, therefore errors.

When Latypov was ahead of me by 50 seconds on the second prone, I thought: well, now two zeros - and Edik and I will go out together at the finish line.

But I smeared it, he did too, so the gap remained the same, ”Serohovstov explained in an interview with Match TV.

At the same time, Latypov's coach Yuri Kaminsky was pleased with the result of his ward, since the weather in Tyumen on Saturday was not easy for biathletes.

“We spent a lot of time before the race to figure out how to deal with the wind.

I don't know what's the reason behind it.

Edward worked at his own pace.

The first miss he probably hurried at the ready, and the last one with a shot, ”explained the specialist.

As a result, Pashchenko and Alexander Povarnitsyn, who started sixth, fought for the bronze medal.

Moreover, thanks to the accuracy of Peter on three firing lines, even with two penalties on the second rack, he left for the last lap third.

But the opponent easily closed the gap of two seconds and settled down behind the Russian.

So together they reached the finish line, where the representative of Izhevsk turned out to be a little faster.

According to Pashchenko, he lost to Povarnitsyn, as he chose the wrong tactics.

“I felt fine, but when I turned on to the maximum, I realized: the energy quickly ran out and I could not run away from Alexander to the optimal distance so that he would not roll out from under me.

On the bridge, of course, he did everything beautifully, right.

I did not expect a bit, this is my mistake.

He opened up, began to work with sticks, but I could not roll out from under him.

Sanya is well done, he beat him tactically, and I got burned on my self-confidence, ”explained Pashchenko.

Latypov, at that time, received congratulations on his victory not only in the race, but also in the overall standings of the Commonwealth Cup, since his main competitor Anton Smolsky fell ill on the eve of the stage and decided to miss the competition.

And the backlog of other biathletes from the duet of Belarusian and Russian in the standings turned out to be significant.

“Of course, I am happy with this title that I managed to win the trophy.

But in wrestling it is much better, more interesting, for me as an athlete it is both progress and pleasure.

Unfortunately, this sometimes happens, there is a disease, and athletes too.

I wish Anton to recover and that already in Khanty-Mansiysk we will go to the start to compete.

There is motivation for the mass start.

I run for the pleasure of racing.

Tomorrow is the same start, I will solve my problems.

We must try to win the sixth victory in the tournament, Johannes Boe somehow does it.

I can too, ”said Latypov.

A much more stubborn struggle for gold unfolded among the girls.

First of all, this was due to the fact that the advantage of Ekaterina Noskova after the sprint from the closest pursuer Victoria Slivko was only three seconds, from Anastasia Shevchenko - nine, and from the leader of the overall standings Dinara Alimbekova-Smolskaya - 15. It was these four who distributed the awards in the pursuit, as she worked cleanly on both prone positions and created a comfortable lead over the rest of the biathletes.

However, already at the first stand, the girls did not act so harmoniously.

Only Slivko was able to leave without misses.

Alimbekova and Shevchenko did not close one target each, and Noskov two.

As a result, the girls switched places: Victoria became the leader, but only twenty seconds away from her pursuers fled.

Therefore, it was impossible to make mistakes at the last shooting.

Alas, the European champion just could not work out, after all, leaving for the penalty loop.

Unlike her compatriot, Shevchenko showed incredible composure.

Anastasia hit all five times and went to the distance first.

Slivko's lag was not catastrophic - only 4.4 seconds.

But she failed to catch up with the 23-year-old biathlete.

For the world junior champion, this gold medal was the first in the tournament, and she did not hide the joy of victory.

“We arrived at the fourth line, and I understood that I needed to shoot at zero.

Other rivals gave me a chance, so I tried, everything worked out.

Vika Slivko was five seconds away from me, but when they ran, I knew that I could compete with her.

On the highway they told me: I run away with every step.

I am very happy.

This is the first gold medal, she cried out with sweat, blood and snot - anything," Shevchenko admitted.

There was no serious struggle for the third place at the finish line, although Alimbekova and Noskova, having made one mistake each, left the stadium together.

Ekaterina quickly and easily ran away from the Belarusian, who did not have enough strength for the last lap.

Dinara lost 40 seconds to the winner on the track.

The Commonwealth Cup stage will continue on Sunday, March 12: biathletes will enter the races from a general start.
