The Prosecutor's Office maintains its historic complaint against FC Barcelona and two of its former presidents in the threatening communications directed by J

osé María Enríquez Negreira

to FC Barcelona revealed exclusively by EL MUNDO.

The Public Ministry places the burofax published by this newspaper on February 17

as one of the pillars of its accusation for corrupting referees .

Whoever was number two of the Spanish referees was furious when

Josep Maria Bartomeu

made the decision to stop paying him at the end of June 2018, shortly after Negreira was relieved as

Victoriano Sánchez Arminio

's right-hand man in the arbitration estate.

After sending a consignment of invoices to Barça and verifying that the decision to break with him was firm, he decided to blackmail the club.

He sent a letter in which he warned the club that he would pull the plug.

Enríquez Negreira wrote directly to Bartomeu at the beginning of 2019 and

advanced him that he would uncover a great "scandal" that would have "serious consequences for the entity"

.

Every time he, he assured him, he was willing to expose "the irregularities" that he claimed to have "lived first hand" and that he was in a position to "prove."

He added that Bartomeu's decision to dispense with his false advisory services "after so many years together" - the relationship lasted from at least 2001 to 2018 - fit it as an "insult" and added that he would act "without regard". .

This tone was even more virulent in a second burofax, also revealed by this newspaper, in which months before he reminded the Barça president that he had been charging the club every month "for years of favors rendered and confidences."

Again, he threatened to uncover the thunder box and stressed that he was willing to make the evidence available to a court with all the consequences.

At the same time

, he pointed directly to all the presidents

with whom, according to him, he had negotiated his conditions, from

Joan Gaspart

to Bartomeu, including "Mr.

Laporta

», from whom he wrote that he had received «indications».

The club refused to give in to Negreira's pressure and stood firm in its decision to cut payments to the historic referee leader.

The relationship between both parties broke down until a year later, coinciding with the end of the 2019/2020 season, Negreira got in touch with Barça again.

In a desperate attempt to recover his million-dollar charges, he offered to "help with the VAR."

He pointed out that Barça could have done better with video arbitration in the season that had just ended

and that if they were interested again in his ability to influence they should contact him.

He received the silence for an answer.

Together with these two communications, which have triggered the seriousness of the scandal, this newspaper has published the invoices for which Negreira received

more than 7 million euros for fictitious advice

on arbitration videos.

But, also, the fictitious receipts for educational consultancies with which his son was charged through a senior member of the now deceased club, Josep Contreras.

And even the internal communications of Barça when the Treasury began the inspection that began to incubate the biggest scandal in the history of Spanish football.

Intermediate positions of the club debated by mail what they should answer to the Tax Agency when it required the payments to the number two of the referees.

"There is no contract.

Do we tell him or do we play crazy?

», came to raise an executive who still works at the club.
