Last season Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky looked to be heading for overall victory in the off-road series Extreme E. But the duo lost and were snubbed for the title by Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez who won by a few points.

- We were incredibly close last season and really want to win this time.

It will be tough, there are many strong teams and new drivers but also several who have been with us for a long time.

It is important that we focus on ours and take one competition at a time, says Åhlin-Kottulinsky to SVT Sport.

This weekend awaits the premiere in Saudi Arabia and the duo who drive for Rosberg X Racing are looking for revenge.

- It will be an exciting race on sand, it's not something that Johan or I are experts in, but it feels good.

There are different bases and conditions in all competitions, so we have to be prepared, says Åhlin-Kottulinsky.

"Exciting changes"

This season has some changes as all weekends have become double competitions, in total there will be ten competitions spread over five competition places.

The individual time qualification is gone and there will be heat runs every time.

- These are exciting changes that I think are good for the audience.

There will be more racing, but there are always greater risks when you race against each other instead of on time.

I learn a lot in every race and love being part of this series, says Åhlin-Kottulinsky.

After the premiere in Saudi Arabia, competitions await in Scotland in May, Sardinia in July, the Amazon or the USA in September before the season ends in Chile on the first weekend in December.
