The day after the heavy defeat in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Benfica (5-1), Club Brugge decided to part ways with their coach Scott Parker.

The name of his successor is not yet known.

Parker had been in place since last December.

Club Brugge announced the dismissal of its British coach Scott Parker on Wednesday, the day after the heavy 5-1 defeat against Benfica, synonymous with elimination in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Former coach of Fulham and Bournemouth in England, Parker was appointed less than three months ago and has only managed to win "twice" since taking office, the Belgian club said in a statement.

The bitter failure in the round of 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday evening 5-1 in Lisbon, which had already beaten Bruges (2-0) in the first leg, precipitated the departure of the technician.

Scott Parker had replaced Carl Hoefkens at the end of December, following a series of poor results.

At the same time, Bruges is fourth in the Belgian championship.

Only two wins

Since becoming a coach, Scott Parker has failed to turn the club around.

With twelve matches to his credit, the Briton has only won two.

He however conceded six draws and four defeats.

The 42-year-old former Tottenham player started his coaching career at Fulham in 2019 as a replacement for Claudio Ranieri.

He brought the club back to the Premier League in 2020.
