21-year-old Jaroslava Mahuchikh continues to collect championship gold.

In the indoor EC, she cleared 1.98 in the first attempt, a height that she was the only one to pass.

And she defended her gold from Torun 2021 ahead of the Dutch Britt Weerman.

The bronze went to Mahuchikh's compatriot Kateryna Tabashnyk at a height of 1.94.

- I am very pleased.

But I'm happier for Kateryna's sake.

Because she just turned four, four and four.

And now she has bronze, it's so cool, says Jaroslava Mahuchikh to SVT Sport.

Considering what is going on in your home country.

What is it like to stand on the podium and listen to the national anthem?

- Since the war started, we have fought for the Ukrainian people, and for them to get better news.

We showed our flags here which is great.

Lost his mother in the war

In the qualification for the EC final, Mahuchikh broke twice at the entry height of 1.87.

She, who has jumped 2.02 this winter, saved her last attempt for 1.91 which the Ukrainian managed.

In addition to his two EC gold medals indoors, Mahuchikh became indoor world champion last year.

While the bronze medal was the first senior championship medal for Tabashnyk.

The 28-year-old, who lost his mother in the war in August 2022, has previously won gold in the junior EC.
