The title was Arsenal's sixth in the League Cup, the first since 2018.

However, it didn't start so fun for Jonas Eidevall's team because after just 1.5 minutes, Chelsea's Australian attacking star Sam Kerr made it 1-0.

This after Stina Blackstenius and Katie McCabe couldn't decide who would take the ball.

Instead, the ball ended up with Chelsea.

Guro Reiten hit a cross ball towards the far post where Kerr headed the ball into the goal.

Arsenal responded a quarter of an hour later when Blackstenius got his revenge by hitting the rebound after Frida Maanum's shot.

And eight minutes later, McCabe also got revenge for the miss at the 0-1 goal when she arranged a penalty.

It put team captain Kim Little to 2–1.

Netted again - but offside

McCabe and Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger then collided and both were left lying on the pitch and needed to be checked by the medical teams.

Blackstenius then put the ball into the net a second time in the first half, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Mindful of Arsenal's overrun, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes substituted centre-back Kadeisha Buchanan for striker Jelena Cankovic as early as the 40th minute.

Own goal

It didn't help though.

Because in extra time in the first half, Arsenal scored 3–1.

Rafaelle was initially awarded the headed goal, but it later emerged that it was Chelsea defender Niamh Charles who headed the ball into her own goal.

Stina Blackstenius was the only Swede to get playing time at Arsenal.

In Chelsea, team captain Magdalena Eriksson played from the start, and was replaced at the end, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd was replaced in the 63rd minute.
