It has been just under a week since Badou Jack became world champion in a third weight class and wrote Swedish boxing history.

Now he is back home in Dubai and the new cruiserweight championship belt can be seen on the bookshelf in the background when he does an interview with SVT.

- But it's a little too big to fit on the shelf, so it hangs a little, says the 39-year-old with a laugh.

Last week's victory against Ilunga Makabu he ranks highly.

He then floored the champion twice, in rounds four and eleven, before winning via technical knockout in the final round.

"It was nice to silence everyone"

- Yes, it was perhaps my best match.

The first time I became world champion was eight years ago, time flies.

After everything that has happened to me in my career, like when I got bald or the times I was banned, it feels really good to win by knockout in a heavier weight class against a really tough opponent, says Jack.

- It felt good because many people said I was too small for the weight class, too old, all that sort of thing.

It was nice to silence them all.

Does it feel like many have doubted?

- Yes, but I like the criticism and hearing things like that because it's just motivation for me.

Opens for new weight class

With the prestigious WBC belt in his possession, more big matches now await the Swede, who was already a heavy name in the boxing world.

- I have faced all the toughest boxers in the world.

Now we want the biggest name and the biggest "money fight".

We have many options and after the holidays I will think about the next step.

Any options that attract?

- Not directly, but there has been talk of meeting Sergej Kovalev.

"Canelo" is a little smaller than me so I don't think we will meet, but I am open to any suggestions.

Can you even change weight classes again?

- I'm definitely not going down again, but the WBC has a new weight class (bridgerweight), so maybe it will.

In the heavyweight category, they are a bit too big and long for me.
