Two days after the defeat of Olympique de Marseille in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France against Annecy (2-2, tab 6-7), the Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez considered that this defeat was "the worst of ( his career".

"After beating Paris, losing that one, we all had a bad time and we are very sad," said the Chilean.

Chilean striker from Marseille Alexis Sanchez estimated on Friday that the defeat conceded on Wednesday against Annecy (L2) in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France was "the worst of (his) career".

"It was a hard defeat for each player and especially for me. It's the worst of my career, I think. After beating Paris, losing that one, we all experienced it badly and we're very sad" , said the Chilean at a press conference.

"I apologize to the fans"

After eliminating Paris SG (2-1) in the round of 16, Marseille fell on penalties on Wednesday (2-2, tab 6-7) against Annecy, in front of nearly 65,000 spectators at the Stade Vélodrome.

"I apologize to the supporters. I have been here for six or seven months and I know they are incredible. There are children waiting for us after training, who are counting on us", he regretted.

"Even when you play against a second, third or fourth division team, you have to be 100% focused. Now the only solution is to get up and give your all on Sunday," added the former Barcelona and Arsenal striker.

Sunday, OM, 2nd in Ligue 1, has a complicated trip to Rennes, 4th in the standings.

"The team is pissed and the only solution is to win on Sunday, against a tough rival. We have to play a big game, being 100% focused to show what a great group we are," explained Sanchez.

"We have to go there with the right mentality, play at 200% and stay focused for 90 minutes. It's the only way to make the fans happy and make us forgiven," he concluded.
