Sweden's women's national handball team faced tough opposition in the year's first international match - namely against reigning Olympic champion France in Strasbourg.

Blågult didn't get the machinery going and was careless a bit.

They also had great difficulty setting the balls and finding the rhythm.

On the contrary, it was for France who put one ball after the other and the first 30 ended with a French lead, 12–6.

In the second half, Sweden came to life and put a couple of quick balls - but it didn't help much.

France pulled away from further and was finally able to win 24–18.

Sweden, who have not beaten France since Euro 2014, will have a chance for revenge.

The teams meet again on Sunday – then in Montbeliard.
