The Biathlon World Cup was a great Swedish success, which ended with a double victory in the mass start – Sebastian Samuelsson ahead of Martin Ponsiluoma.

But when the World Cup restarted today after the WC break, with a sprint in Nove Mesto, it was not a success.

Missed the first shots

The fact is that the Swedish gold chances disappeared immediately.

Because both Samuelsson and Ponsiluoma started by missing the first shot on the lying shooter.

Samuelsson missed another shot in the standing shooting, which meant that the chance for a podium then disappeared.

There was then another boom for Samuelsson on the standing shooter.

Ponsiluoma also missed a shot in the standing shoot as well, which meant his day was also ruined.

New victory for Thingnes Bö

When most of the top skaters had finished, it looked like Ponsiluoma became the best Swede in sixth place.

Won, for the twelfth time this World Cup season, was the Norwegian giant Johannes Thingnes Bö.

He put all ten shots and was also the fastest on the skis.

In the end, he was 30 seconds ahead of compatriot Tarjei Bö, and 1.25 ahead of Ponsiluoma.

Third and fourth place also went to Norwegians: Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen and Endre Strömsheim.
