WBC = World Baseball Classic Japan representative, Major League Cardinals Nutvar player participated in the last open game before joining the national team and hit two bases.
On the 27th, Nutvar started in the open match against the Mets in Jupiter, Florida, as No. 2 and center.
He whiffed in one first at-bat and had a third fly in the second at-bat three times.
In the 3rd at-bat of the 5th inning, he had a chance to hit first base and third base with no outs.
Nutvar got his first hit in his second open-season game, coming off six innings and going 1-for-3 with 1 RBI.
Nootvar said with a relieved look, "It felt pretty good. I thought I couldn't go to Japan if I didn't get hits here, so it was a weight off my shoulders."
Regarding the WBC, he said with a smile, "I'm excited about my new teammates, new country, and new culture. It's like a child going to a new school."
Nutvar will not participate in the open match on the 28th, but will practice at the campsite and depart for Japan on the 1st after undergoing a medical check.
