Mortada Mansour, the president of the Egyptian football club of Zamalek, was imprisoned this Saturday February 25 for one month because of "

 " against the president of the rival Cairo club of Al Ahly, revealed a judicial source .

He had been sentenced at first instance to one year in prison for having insulted Mahmoud al-Khatib and his family in a video, before this sentence was reduced to one month on appeal in August 2022 and confirmed on February 25 by the Court of Cassation. .

Known for his regular criticism and insults vis-à-vis his opponents or supporters, Mortada Mansour had avoided legal proceedings in the past thanks to his parliamentary immunity.
