There will be no start for him in the Indoor European Championship in Turkey, which starts in a few days, but that does not prevent Armand Duplantis from competing a little anyway.

On Saturday night he appeared in a gala in French Clermont-Ferrand organized by his pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie and it went exactly as it usually does when Duplantis is on the move.

After standing over the initial heights, Mondo stepped in at 5.71 and flew high over the bar.

He then stood over 5.81 before it was time for 5.91 – which he broke in the first attempt.

In the second, however, he flew high and when it came time to jump 6.01, only Duplantis, Dutchman Menno Vloon and Australian Kurtis Marschall remained, who broke his personal best when he cleared 5.91.

Duplantis soared high over the bar in his first attempt of 6.01 while his two competitors ran into major trouble and pulled out.

After that, it was time for three world record attempts.

Duplantis asked the officials to raise the bar to 6.22

The first attempt was really good, but Mondo managed to touch the bar with one of his thighs and rip.

- The height is definitely there.

There are small, small margins, says SVT's expert Alhaji Jeng.

The second attempt was much worse.

Duplantis came too close in the puck and was never over the crossbar with any part of his body.

In the third attempt, it was much better - and Duplantis got over the new world record height by a margin of almost ten centimeters.

His sixth world record.

-Look!

He has several centimeters of air to spare, he is not even close to the bar, says SVT's commentator Niklas Nord.

Michaela Meijer finished fourth among the ladies after tearing out in 4.56.
