Greek cross-country giant Miltos Tentoglou has started the season promisingly.

He won Wednesday's competition in Madrid ahead of Sweden's Thobias Montler.

Afterwards, Tentoglou spoke about his much-publicised jump from the competition in Poland last week.

Then he stood for a really impressive 8.40.

However, the jump was canceled after the competition - when it emerged that he had jumped in a prohibited spiked shoe.

Actions out the shoes

The shoes were not examined before the competition, but afterwards the International Association of Athletics Federations asked for pictures of the shoes.

The result was then struck out.

On Wednesday evening, Tentoglou said that he decided to sell the shoes and donate the money to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

- We haven't done it yet, but will make sure it happens after the EC, he says.
