Lucas Braathen had surgery on his appendix shortly before the WC, yet the Norwegian went there to compete in his favorite discipline, slalom.

As a leader in the World Cup, he was one of the top riders and was tied for second from the first race, together with the Greek AJ Ginnis.

Austrian Manuel Feller was fastest in the first run.

The Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen was responsible for a great run in second and picked up 12 positions until only the top three remained.

Braathen rode well but had a stop in the middle of the ride and lost a lot of time and slipped into sixth.

Kristoffersen had thus secured the medal.

AJ Ginnis then came down as second in his race, also secured a medal, somewhat improbably.

The value of their medals was then entirely in the hands of Manuel Feller.

The Austrian didn't quite get it right and finished seventh.

So the gold went to Kristoffersen, the silver to Ginnis and the bronze to the Italian Alex Vinatzer.
