After conceding two goals in the first period, Luleå chased a reduction at the beginning of the third period.

Then Luleå lost the puck in their own zone and Tappara scored 3–0 after Linus Fröberg steered the puck in behind their own goalkeeper Matteus Ward.

- Luleå makes it their own, they have the opportunity to play the puck much earlier.

It's an obvious own goal, but it's the sum of something that happened much earlier, says SVT Sports expert Jonas Andersson.

Luleå reduced with just over eight minutes left to play and chased more goals.

Juhani Tyrväinen pushed the puck into the roof of the net, but Luleå didn't get any closer than that and Tappara won 3–2.

"We deserved to win"

Luleå was chasing its second title in the CHL after the team won the tournament in 2015 when the tournament was decided for the first time.

For Tappara, this was the second straight final and the team took revenge for the loss last season against Rögle.

- I don't know what to own, which team.

It felt like we wanted it more and we deserved to win.

We were close to winning last year and that's why this feels so good, says Christian Heljanko in Tappara.
