HV71 has had a tough season in the SDHL.

When the runner-up faced Brynäs, second in the table, on Friday evening, there were therefore not many who believed in victory for the home team.

But after a decisive goal in extra time, HV71 managed to win 5–4.

When Maja Nylén-Persson sent in 4-2 to Brynäs in the third period, it was most likely that the away team would take all three points home to Gävle.

But with barely five minutes left to play, Sanni Hakala reduced.

When just over 30 seconds remained in the third period, Hilda Svensson then sent in her second goal of the evening, and the match was thus decided in overtime.

48 points difference

Once there, Elin Svensson became a great match hero, when she scored the decisive goal from close range.

- It was on the hair that it slipped in.

But so damn nice and important for our team.

We had a really good group today on the bench.

There aren't many of us, but damn we fight for each other, says Elin Svensson to C More.

The victory means that HV71 is five points ahead of fellow AIK.

After tonight's results, 48 points separate HV71 and Brynäs in the table.
