The hope of the European Championships disappeared for the Swedish part with the loss against Israel.

The match against Latvia thus had no significance in the qualifiers.

But Sweden's basketball ladies nevertheless took the initiative early in the match.

In the first half, they impressed not least with the defense.

In addition, Sweden made 42 percent of the three-pointers in the first half, after only managing to make two in the game against Israel.

The second half was much tougher for Sweden.

A team foul meant that Latvia was offered a number of free throws, while the offense was a little heavier.

Twelve point lead at halftime was only five before the final period.

Record audience in Stockholm

With just over six minutes left in the match, Latvia had also caught up and passed.

It was a shock at the end, not least after Frida Eldebrink made two free throws with barely three minutes left.

Then two points separated in Latvia's favor, but Sweden did not manage to catch up and in the end it was a loss with 71-65.

The joy of the match was that it was a record audience in Swedish women's basketball, 9,428 spectators, who made it to Avicii Arena.

- It's fantastic, it's a wonderful feeling.

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who came to cheer and support us, says Amanda Zahui during a break to SVT Sport.
