Satoshi Iriki from Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, who was active as a pitcher in professional baseball Yakult and Giants, died in a traffic accident while driving a car in the city on the night of the 10th.

According to the police, before 10:00 pm on the 10th, there was an accident in which cars collided at the intersection of the city road in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture.



Miyakonojo city caregiver Satoshi Iriki (55), who was driving the car in this accident, hit his head hard and was transported to the hospital, where he died about two hours later.



The scene is an intersection with good visibility without traffic lights, and the police are investigating the cause of the accident in detail.



Mr. Iriki was a former professional baseball pitcher from Miyakonojo City, and after joining the Kintetsu and Giants at the time, he showed success with 10 wins in the 2001 season when he joined Yakult as a test, contributing to the team becoming the best in Japan.



When he was enrolled in the giants, he was noted as the "Iriki brothers" along with his younger brother Yusaku, who is currently a pitching coach for Orix.
