Peter Gerhardsson took over as national captain of the women's national team in the fall of 2017. Over the years, he has led Sweden to several major championships and in 2021 he took part in winning Olympic silver in Tokyo.

Now it is clear that he will remain as the national team captain for a while longer.

On Friday, it was announced that he had signed a new contract that extends over European Championship 2025.

- My intentions have always been to extend if I got the offer.

Since then, it has been important to involve family and loved ones before the decision was made.

But it feels right on all levels and it's nice that the extension is now complete, he says in a press release and continues:

- I have really enjoyed the role during these years and have always received good support and conditions from the association's side to carry out the work.

The work with players and managers continues to engage and stimulate me in coaching practice, and I look forward to continuing to develop both personally and as a team to become even better.
