After 20 years as a player in Frölunda, the career will soon end for Joel Lundqvist.
It was not something that goalkeeper star Lars Johansson expected.
Johansson came back to Frölunda for this season and has thus played with Joel Lundqvist in two different stays.
- I was a little shocked.
I thought he was going to drive on, but I understand him, he says and continues:
- A fantastic hockey player and person in the dressing room who will be missed in the future.
But right now you just want to focus on this year.
I think everyone feels a boost for him to have a great finish to his career.
Johansso came to Frölunda as a real star signing, but has not quite lived up to expectations.
He is disappointed with his own season.
- Overall, I am not satisfied.
It started too badly and it has been a bit shaky throughout the season.
There have been too many valleys.
It is usually my strength to have a high minimum level, but this year it has been too low.
I still think it went a little better at the end.
Why do you think it happened that way?
- It is very new.
New team, new league and all.
You want to perform and it is likely that you overwork certain situations and want too much.
It usually does not result in anything good.
I will try to play a little more calmly, says Johansson, who before Frölunda played five straight seasons in the KHL.
