Jussi Olkinuora had a fantastic 2022 with both WC gold and Olympic gold.

During the World Cup, he had a slightly improbable 1.11 goals conceded per game and 94.8 in save percentage and was chosen as the tournament's best goalkeeper.

This season he has been playing for Detroit's farm team the Grand Rapids Griffins, but is now returning to Europe.

He has signed for Brynäs for the rest of the season.

- When the opportunity to bring in Jussi came up, there wasn't much to think about.

He is a winner, a good person and a fantastic goalkeeper who will make our team stronger in every way, says sporting director Johan Alcén on Brynä's website.

"I'm incredibly happy"

In Brynäs, Olkinuora gets Mikko Manner as coach, a coach he knows well as Manner is also the assistant national team captain in Finland.

- I am incredibly happy to have the chance to do something good with Brynäs this year.

There are many good hockey players in the team that I have great respect for, says Jussi Olkinuora.

Brynäs is in no man's land in twelfth place in the SHL, seven points above the qualifying mark and with a six point margin up to the playoffs.

Brynäs also has Tomi Karhunen under contract on the goalkeeper side and writes that the Gävle team "is working to find a solution that is both good for him and for the club".
