The President of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, said that a technical error was behind the Palestinian Federation's failure to vote for Saudi Arabia to host the 2027 Asian Cup.

Rajoub indicated in an interview with a Saudi newspaper published on Twitter that "there was a technical glitch that occurred from our representative during the voting process. I personally left after electing the representatives of West Asia in the executive office, and for urgent health reasons I went to the Secretary-General of the Saudi Federation and apologized because I would leave, so he told me: There will be no vote, and on that basis I left."

Rajoub concluded by saying, "It is clear that our delegate made a mistake, and I think it is the first time that he participates in this conference."

Saudi Arabia received 43 votes out of 45, while Palestine and Turkmenistan abstained from voting.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia won the right to host the 2027 Asian Cup for the first time in its history, after the withdrawal of all its competitors, the last of whom was India.
