Salman bin Ibrahim, president of the Asian Football Confederation until 2027

Today, Wednesday, the General Assembly of the Asian Football Confederation elected Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa as President of the Confederation until 2027 by acclamation.

No one ran to compete with Sheikh Salman, the former president of the Bahraini Federation, to become the only candidate for the presidency of the Asian Federation from 2023 to 2027 at the General Assembly meeting of the Continental Federation in Bahrain.

Sheikh Salman assumed the presidency of the Asian Confederation in 2013 for a period of two years to complete the mandate of Qatari Mohammed bin Hammam after his suspension.

Muhammad bin Hammam was punished with a life ban from FIFA in 2011, and Zhang Jilong took over temporarily before the election of Sheikh Salman, who won the 2015 and 2019 elections.
