Officially .. Saudi Arabia wins the organization of the 2027 Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation announced today, Wednesday, that Saudi Arabia has officially won the honor of organizing the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, during the Confederation’s General Assembly meeting in Manama.

Saudi Arabia became the only candidate to host the Asian Cup finals after India withdrew its application for the organizing rights.

Before that, the competition was limited to between India and Saudi Arabia, after Qatar withdrew, following its success in obtaining the rights to host the tournament in 2023 instead of China.

Hosting the tournament will be a new impetus for Saudi football, whose national team made strong performances in the 2022 World Cup and recently attracted Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Al-Nasr Club, in a deal worth more than 200 million euros ($217 million).

Saudi Arabia has won the Asian Cup three times before, but it has never hosted the tournament.
