A German official criticizes the size of Chelsea's spending in the player transfer market

Borussia Dortmund's director of football, Sebastian Kale, criticized the amount of spending by Chelsea FC in the winter transfer market, which saw Chelsea conclude a record-breaking deal in Britain to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

"We have to say it's very wild. Of course I've been following Chelsea in the past weeks and months," Kale told Germany's Sky Sport.

Midfielder Fernandez signed a contract with Chelsea that runs until 2031, and the English club paid 106.8 million pounds ($131.4 million) to sign the player who won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the Argentine national team.

"Money is not an issue there," Kell said. "We simply have to make our money here in a different way. So we are not in a position to do deals like that."
