It was a relatively calm start to the race where the front, consisting mainly of Norwegians but also William Poromaa, did not set off at a higher pace or distance themselves from the rest of the field.

But with over 13 kilometers to go, the lead consisting of eight riders got a small gap down, albeit by just barely a handful of seconds.

The gap grew and the lead thinned out.

With just over three kilometers to go to the finish line, there were four Norwegians, Ivo Niskanen and William Poromaa at the front.

With two kilometers to go, Niskanen pulled away and immediately caught Johannes Hösflot Kläbo on the heel.

Poromaa could also keep up.

But shortly before the race, Kläbo moved up close, Niskanen entered second just in front of William Poromaa.
