Jakob Ingebrigtsen made a big splash when he won gold in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the European Championships in Berlin 2018.

Since then, he has won gold in both the EC, WC and Olympics.

Now he is 22 years old, but has invested his whole life in running.

He has been drilled hard by father Gjert Ingebrigtsen, who is now no longer his coach.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen knew early on what it meant to invest wholeheartedly in running.

- I want to say that, I feel that I have been very lucky to have had Henrik and Filip, who are my siblings and who also became professional runners very early.

I have always seen how they have lived and done in their sporting venture.

It has always felt very natural to follow them, he says.

"Then everything falls"

With the investment in running, you must have full focus only on what is important, says the world star.

- You have to prioritize and carry out training as well as you can, and not do much else around.

Sports always come first.

Going on party trips with friends, staying out late at night and partying, was that never something that attracted you in your youth?

- No, I wouldn't say that, of course I have some friends who live normal lives, but I have always been sure of what I want to do.

- I know that... if I had done something that would not be good for the investment, it would be completely pointless.

It kind of doesn't help to go to training if I then go to bed late or be out partying, then everything falls apart, he says.
