At the same time as Armand Duplantis made a big breakthrough at the European Championships in Berlin 2018, a new world star was lit up in the athletics sky, Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
There is a year between them and the similarities are there.
Apart from the early breakthrough, both have been drilled hard by their fathers.
The Norwegian running star is impressed by what Duplantis has done during his career.
- It is quite sick, he has really taken a new step for an entire sport and has raised the level significantly.
- We've followed each other a bit, both broke through in Berlin 2018, but it's pretty sick.
Have you had any contact?
- Yes, but I don't know him very well, but that's how it is when you do different branches.
You don't train in the same places.
But we meet at certain competitions such as the Diamond League and championships, so it's fun, says Ingebrigtsen.
