The Swedish record of 6.58 had stood since 1996, but now 23-year-old Henrik Larsson has beaten it.

Over 25 years later, Peter Karlsson and Patrik Lövgren are off the record lists.

Larsson finished first and when he saw the time both he and national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist cheered heartily.

- What a race he is doing.

He executes the race to perfection.

He parades into the goal, says SVT expert Alhaji Jeng.

The time is the best by a European this winter and it is enough for third place in the world statistics.

Larsson, who has stalled a bit in development in recent years, was very happy after the record race.

- It is as important as anything to feel that I can get past that barrier.

The main difference is that I had a lot of problems after 2019, all the time something small.

The fact that I have had continuity in training since last autumn is what has yielded results, he says.

Now Larsson dreams of reaching under 10 seconds in 100 meters this summer.

- It feels absolutely achievable.

I think I have found the right recipe.

Pole Oliwer Wdowik was second in the race and Finn Samuli Samuelsson came third.
