Whatever happens on Sunday between Djokovic and Tsitsipas, we will remember this Australian Open 2023, which it will have been much more pleasant to follow on the women's side.

And the final between Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina on Saturday is there to confirm.

The Belarusian won in three sets against the Kazakh to offer her first Grand Slam title, at 24 years old.

It was however very badly crossed for the one who will be the new world number 2 from Monday.

Dominated by her opponent, she had to give up the first set (4-6).

But the tide eventually turned.

The physical power of Sabalenka, coupled with a maddening technical accuracy left the Kazakh unanswered, even if the latter resisted brilliantly, hidden behind a first ball worthy of Pete Sampras.

Match balls harvested

The lock ended up jumping in the final set, at 3-3.

With a symbolic image: that of Rybakina thrown off balance by a powerful blow from the Belarusian just before losing her serve.

After shaking on her last face-off, including a double fault and several match points harvested, Sabalenka finished the job to get her first Grand Slam title.
